読み終わったあと主人と感動して涙を流しました。

あとがきを見て、これが実話をもとにしている、とあり
「やはり」と思いました。

いつも大きな声であいさつをして、子供にも「大きな声で
あいさつしてごらん」と暖かく励ます校長先生。
自身の病気で、声を出したくでも出せないつらさを身をもって
知り、今まで生徒に大きな声を出そうて言ってごめん、と
謝る校長先生。それに精一杯答えようとする生徒。

ここには、しっかりと信頼で結ばれた子供と大人の関係が
ありました。相手の身になって考えることは言うは簡単ですが
実は難しい。そんな単純な事を病気をきっかけに、考えることの
出来る校長先生の心の素晴らしさに打たれます。

神奈川県茅ヶ崎市の浜之郷小学校の初代校長先生だった大瀬敏昭先生はお医者さんに「あと３ヶ月の命です」といわれました。でも校長先生は学校に通い続けて「命の授業」を開きました。３９度の熱があっても教壇にあがると不思議と熱が下がるのです。子供たちが大好きな校長先生は最後の最後まで教壇にあがり続け、子供たちだけではなく教師にも沢山の事を残し、お星様になりました。
この絵本の作者、こんのひとみさんは２児の子供を持つお母さんシンガーソングライターです。こんのひとみさんは大瀬校長先生の為だけにライブを開き、このときに校長先生の絵本を作ることを約束しました。ようやくその約束が果たされました。

絵を描いているのがいもうとようこさん、かわいい、あたたかい絵がとてもないようとマッチしています。
是非、読んでください。命の大切さを子供と一緒に考えてください。

絵本タッチの本で、実話の命の授業の話を知らなければ、ごく普通の絵本として存在するものでしょう。この本の、いつも小さな声でしか挨拶が出来ないひつじ君が、自分の息子と重なっているようでした。そして、「子供は本来弱くて、守らなければならないものなのだ。」というコメントを見て、大きな声で挨拶をしなさいと強要することが、子供のストレスとなることもあり、子供のペースで、少しずつあいさつができればいいのでは、と思えるようになりました。こういう考えがもっと広まってくれれば、おとなしい子供の親としての心配も少しは紛れるかも知れませんね。
