臨床試験を含めた医薬品開発プロセスに関する日本語の適当な参考書が極めて少ない中で、この参考書はそれなりの存在意義を有している。通読すれば医薬品開発に関する何らかの印象は得られるものと考えるが、問題は、かなりひどい文章の混乱である。特徴的なのは、主語が欠如したり（実際に主体が分からない）、主語と述語とが対応しない点である。また、個々の文章が長すぎる傾向もある。
私自身は、この参考書を一読した後、英語の参考書を読むつもりしにているが、正直なところ、この参考書での体系的な知識の習得を希望していた。せっかく良いテーマを取り扱っているのであるから、改訂版では分かりやすい日本語への大幅な改善を希望する。

これは多分、大学の薬学部学生向きに書かれた本（教科書）だと思う。

今までに、この手のように治験の倫理や、非臨床試験での倫理から日本と世界の医薬品産業の比較、日本の薬事行政、特許制度、市販後調査まで含めた本はかつて無かった。

モニターの教育担当者として、僕は「製薬業界への新入社員」へお薦めします。

この本を読めば、日本における創薬の流れと現状の日本での大まかな問題点が分かる。

そして本当のもっと深い問題点は現場に出て補完するといい。
