愛とは対象が問題でないという言葉に、私達がおもっている愛という概念で読んだ人にまず思考を要求します。では、愛とは？フロムが言う愛とは態度を問題とします。技術であると。対象に心が開いているか、耳はかたむけ聴いているか？全存在を世界に開いているかということです。

また愛には処方箋がないという。マニュアルがないということですね。

そこで読者は途方にくれてしまう。

フロムは言います。あらゆる技術には訓練と知識が必要であると。
愛するための技術。
さて、その訓練とは？何をするのでしょうか？
それは読んでからの楽しみです。
私は今から20年以上前に読み、再読している価値のある一冊となっています。

5.0 out of 5 stars 原書のタイトルは、 The Art of Loving = 「愛の技術」, 2002/8/21
この本の原書のタイトルを直訳すると、「愛の技術」。フロムは、愛が、たとえばパン作りのように、鍛錬によって身に付けるべき技術である、と説く。だから、他の技術と同様、理論が存在するし、継続的な努力と鍛錬が必要だし、逆に正しい理論に基づいて正しく継続的に鍛錬を積めば身に付けられるものだ、とする。

鈴木大拙とも親交のあったフロムは、現代人が愛する技術を鍛えるために真っ先にやることとして、「一人でじっとしていられること」を挙げているのが興味深い。

「愛することのできる対象」を追い求めてばかりいてはだめで、自分が「愛するに足る成熟した人間かどうか」を考えなければならないんですね。目が開かれる思いです。現代社会を生きる人すべてにお勧め。

●●の愛され方とか、癒しとか、言葉遣い、作法などのノウハウ本に飽きたのはなぜか、この本で解かりました。
そしてこの本はそういう「●●すれば愛される」などのノウハウ本と違う。

最後の章は一生の生き方の指標となります。徹夜で読みました。よみはじめたら
朝になっていました
