１９８０年の単行本を世田谷の図書館で借りて以来、２０数年ぶりに
読むことができました。カルヴィーノが繰り出すタロットカードの
物語が読んでいる私を城の中へ引き入れてくれます。
ただ、残念なのは、タロットカードの文様が小さくて、本来の迫力に
欠けてしまうところです。

本のおすすめになっていたので、面白そうだと思い購入しました。幻想的な雰囲気の中で、タロットカードの持つ意味と物語の進行が上手くかみ合っていて、最後は、カードが１つの形を形成する構成など良くできた小説だと思います｡タロットカードを知らない人でも充分に楽しめる小説ですが、タロットカードの絵の意味を知っている人はもっと面白いはずです。
この小説を読んで、もっと詳しくタロットカードの事を知りたくなりました。ただし、文庫本なので、タロットカードの絵が小さくて見にくいのが残念。

イタロ・カルビィーノのずば抜けた筆致がわかる一冊です。タロットカードから連想した物語は、リアルと同時にこの世のものではない、怪しい雰囲気をかもし出しています。イタリアにはさまざまな職人がいて、すばらしいものをつくりあげると聞いたことがありますが、
イタロ・カルビィーノは、作家というより、文字を書く職人なのだと思った本です。こういう本に出会えるというのは人生にとって大きな喜びのひとつです。この本はぜひ、内容のように嵐の荒れ狂う晩に読みましょう。
