『他人の人生を一度味わってみたい』自分に少しでも劣等感を抱いている人ならなおさらそう思うだろう。トム・リプリーもその一人。この作品を読んでいて痛いほどトム・リプリーの気持ちが解りました。それは私自身も少なからず劣等感を抱いて生活しているから、自分と重ねてしまい物語に強く引き込まれてしまう。

トム・リプリーのように、満たされない人生・心、自分への劣等感・不満を抱えながら歩む者にとっては、外国・異国の地で、もしかしたら今の自分と決別し、新たな自分へ変身できるのではないかと、胸高まり・期待してしまうことがあるかも知れない。それは誰しもが抱いている気持ちであり、友情が殺意に変ることもありえること。殺害した人物に成りすますと言うことは、トム・リプリーには最高の思いつきだったのかもしれない。

読み終えた後、彼はどうしたのだろうと考えてしまいました。
Patricia･Highsmith=The　Talented　Mr．Ripley　本当に見事な、素晴らしい作品であり、自分の今の状況を深く考えさせられる作品でした。
