「愛」をテーマに、詩人の谷川俊太郎さんが、世界の四十万行もの詩の中から選りすぐった、珠玉の作品集です。
女の愛、男の愛、わかれ、人々、生きとし生けるもの、愛を愛する。テーマは六つに別れています。
人が生きていく中で出会い、体験する、様々な愛のかたち。
男女の愛はもちろん、平和への祈りもあれば、隣人とのささやかな触れあいがあり、肉体を超えた永遠といえるような宗教的な愛まであります。
ゲーテ、ヴェルレーヌ、コクトー、リルケ、誰もが知る詩人や小説家から、日本ではその訳本を見つけられない詩人、八歳の女の子の詩も登場します。
古本屋の片隅で出会い、何年かたって、手に入れるのに苦労しました。
売れる売れないに関わらず、是非、後世に残して欲しい本。
