渋沢 龍彦
1928年東京に生まれる。本名龍雄。東大仏文科卒業後、マルキ・ド・サドの著作を日本に紹介するかたわら、人間精神や文明の暗黒面に光をあてる多彩なエッセイを発表。晩年は小説に独自の世界を拓いて、広く読まれた。1987年没(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

代表作「犬狼都市」、「陽物神譚」等を含む澁澤龍彦氏の初期の短編集。恋愛を描くとか、人情味で読ませるとか、言わんや私小説のように身辺を語るとかの通常の小説の概念は一切ない。善悪の基準も超越している。描かれるのはサディズム・マゾヒズムを初めとする性的倒錯、人間・動物・物質の渾然一体化、両性具有神と陽物神、獣神崇拝、船幽霊、メタモルフォーゼ化した動植物、その他異端と言われるあらゆる事象。それを意識的に"硬質"の人工的文体で書いている。個々の作品も人工的構成で、作者はそれを方程式に見立てて、その解を求めるフリをして読者を迷宮に誘っているかのようである。

作者の個々の作品を評するのは難しく、ただ上述の作風に興味を持たれた方には「読んで見て下さい」と言うしかないのだが、一番好きな「犬狼都市」を少しだけ紹介したい。

麗子と言う令嬢がヒロイン。"魚類"学者の父親も「目をまともにのぞみ込めない」程の透質な娘。珠男と言う婚約者から"4カラットのダイヤ"の婚約指輪を贈られるが、飼っているアメリカ狼のファキイル(断食僧)の方に執着している。麗子はファキイルと瞳を見つめ合うと磁気作用のような交感が起こり、人間性が希薄になり獣性が芽生える。そして重層的な夢の中、麗子はファキイルの肉を食べた後、婚約指輪の中のファキイルを追って指輪に入り込み、"必然的"に情交を持つ。そして語られる狼族と魚族の永年の死闘。覚醒後にファキイルの死を知らされた麗子は珠男と結婚するが、生まれて来る子供は...。

こう書くと"おぞましい"ようだが、上述の通り作者独自の方程式を立てて明晰に書かれているので、むしろ怜悧な印象を受ける。この作風は、後続の多くの作家に影響を与えたのではないか。観念小説なのだが、異界性・硬質度の高さに陶然とさせられる短編集。
