長野作品の中では課題図書として選ばれたこともある一冊。白い野ばらの園に眠る少年月彦の柘榴の夢、その庭に棲む２匹の美しい猫、そしてその猫と同じ名前を持つ少年たち。永遠に越えることの出来ない壁、途絶えることの無いミシンの静寂。全ての長野作品に共通する妖しいほどの美しさの原点とも呼べる名作である。

濃紺の闇。途切れることなく空気を震わせるミシンの音。
野ばらのかをり漂う寝台、軋む木製椅子。
螺子やボルトでできた温室のばら、無機質な理科教師。
主人公の少年・月彦と、彼らに執拗に絡むふたりの少年達。
そして、敏捷な動きで庭を駆ける二匹の猫。
夢と日常の境界線が曖昧になってゆく…。

読む者を眠りの淵へ誘うような、

穏やかかつ淡々とした文章で綴られるこの物語は、
夏の、夕暮れから夜へと空の色が変わっていく時間帯に読みたい一冊。

銀色と黒蜜糖。二匹の猫と、同じ名前の少年。少年月彦の、目覚めるたびに更に深くなる夢。ぐるりと囲う白い野ばら。
昔の人は、夢の世界で自分は起きている時とは別の世界を生きているのだと考えていたそうです...この本読んでてそれを思い出した。
銀色と黒蜜糖がかなり好きでね。やはり描写や漢字の運び、そしてあの曖昧さと痛々しいまでの透明さ。長野作品だなぁって思う。
多分長野まゆみの中で一番好き...いや、今のところ(笑)。全部読んだ訳じゃないんでね。
ぶっちゃけると話すべてが見えた訳ではない。でも空気が大好き。懐かしい。美しい。「少年」って感じが本当よく出ていてね...溜息ついちゃうよ(笑)。
幻想的なお話が好きな方必読。柘榴好きな方にもオススメ。「植物性の鉄」「薔薇の柵」という言葉にひかれた方、鉱物の美しさにうっとりしたことがある方。おすすめしますよ。
