　私は映画「プリティ・プリンセス」をみてから、原作であるこのシリーズを読み始めました。映画と原作には少し違いがありますが、どちらも面白く、私はどちらも大好きです。
　シリーズ３巻目である「恋するプリンセス編」は映画の起承転結の転の途中からということになるでしょうか。サブタイトルの通り、主人公のプリンセス ミアの思春期らしい恋心が描かれているのですが、アメリカ映画や洋書によくでてくるような恋を楽しむ女の子の話ではありません。どちらかというと、もじもじして、恋に踏み出せないようなそんな女の子の話です。ミアは私のアメリカの女の子像を壊してしまったし、読めば読むほど日本人の女の子のようで、何か親しみを感じてしまいました。あぁ、もどかしい、とも、かわいいなぁ、とも読める作品で何度も楽しむことができました。

　あと、別の楽しみ方として、シリーズで共通することはアメリカのティーンの間で何が流行っているのか垣間見れるということ。歌手や映画が沢山でてくるし、テレビ番組も時々でてくる。最初は空想のものなのかと思ったけど、知ってる名前もでてくる。歌手なんかはＣＤショップにと思わず探してしまいます。この作品の中では脇役にも注目です。

　あとがきも魅力的。作品に似せて書かれていたりして、訳者がこの作品を愛していることを感じさせます。３巻が完結編ってことで日本では紹介されているけれど、あとがきによると４巻がアメリカではでてるらしく、日本で訳すことができるよう、出版社に出版希望を出すように訳者が呼びかけています。

　最後に私としてはこの作品は星５つなんですが、４つにしたのは女の子特有のプリンセス願望がもう２０代の私にもあるかもしれないし、それが作品をよくみせてるかもしれないから。

私は『プリンセス…』シリーズでこの三巻が一番好きです。
今まででも各巻のラストはhappyで終わっていましたが、今回は格別です。
今回は気になるカレ、マイケルとへの恋の行方が明らかに…！
最後まで夢中にさせてくれる一冊です。

　　私は高３の女の子で、英語を勉強してるんですが、映画でこの話（ちょっとちがうけど）見て、好きだったので、本にも挑戦してみました。
　　最初らへんは、日々のできごとがずらーっとかかれてるだけで、あんまりだなぁって思って、買ってから途中でほってました。でも、昨日久々に続きを読んでみたら、やけにおもしろくって、最後まで一気によんじゃいました！！１８０ページぐらいからおもしろくなってくると思います。大変だけど、読むならそこまでがんばって耐えてください！！笑
　　なんか、最後らへんは、ほんとに心に響く言葉が多かったです。国はちがうし、私はプリンセスじゃないけど、ミアと共感出来るとこはかなりありました。たとえば、自分の容姿に自信がなくて、悩んでるとことか、好きな男の子のほんとにちょっとした行動で、傷ついたり、ものすごぉく喜んだりとか。だから、ミアに助言をする周りの人たちの言葉に、私も励まされたりしました。
　　
　　それから、思ったのは、本当に女の子ならだれでも憧れる、すっごくロマンティックなお話でした！！メグ・キャボットさんの想像力は、すばらしいですね！！
