新築に際し、自分の書斎の間取りを考える参考にしようと思い本書を購入しました。
表紙の写真からして、本書に登場する方達の書斎間取りなど、設計上の内容が色々と書かれていることを期待しての購入でした。しかし、実際には、書斎の一部を写したと思われる写真が各登場人物の書斎について1, 2枚あるだけで、内容は登場する人々（＝書斎の達人）が書斎をどう使うか、そこで何をするかといった、いわば書斎哲学の記述がメインで、それぞれのユニークであろう書斎の具体的構造については殆ど情報を得られませんでした。間取りは今や個人情報ですから、考えてみればその詳細を公開しないのは当然かも知れませんが、表紙に如何にも書斎について詳しく書いてあることを連想させる（？）写真があったことから、私の目的からすると本書は多いに期待外れでした。
　しかし、如何に書斎を使うかという活用術や、本書に登場する各界で活躍されている方々の専門分野に触れるという意味ではそれなりに面白みのある本ではありました。

本書は雑誌「男の隠れ家」に連載されていた書斎訪問記になる。

個人の書斎。色々な思いが詰まった場所で語られる言葉。
その仕事であったり、趣味、そして生き方にもつながる言葉。

ゆっくりと堪能したい。
