柴崎友香といえば、日常・ゆるさ・関西弁、が特長の作家だが、
１ページ目から「銀座線」とか出てきて、これは？と思ったけど、登場人物のほとんどは関西弁です。舞台が東京なだけ。

帯にはやたらドラマチックな事が書かれているけど、全くあてになりません。いつも通りのゆるい日常、主人公と彼女を取り巻く人々のお話。
すごいなあ。この独特の世界観は、一つのジャンルって言っても過言じゃないんじゃないか。主人公の視点がいつも暖かくて、新鮮で、日常ってこういう見方があるんだなと関心する。

何気ない描写が巧い。というか好きな書き方。
「大きな工事現場は、なんとなくいつまでもできあがらない気がしてしまうけれど、きっと今度来た時あたりにはあっさりと真新しい建物が、前からあったみたいにそこに並んでいるんだと思う」
こういう表現。誰にでも書けそうで、できない巧さ。

ラストまで読んで、もう一度タイトルの意味を考えてもらいたい。

ところで、前作「その街の今は」が芥川賞候補に挙がってるけど、どうなんだろう。賞レースには恵まれない人だけど…取ってほしいなあ。

「なんか急にいつもと違うこととか新しいことをやってみようとか思う瞬間があって、それでいつも実際やるわけじゃないけど、たまにはホンマにやってみる時があって、なんでか分からんけど、できるときがあってそういうのだけがちょっとづつ変えていけるんちゃうかなあ、なにかを」　本文１０８ページ

紹介文には「とびきりの恋愛小説！」とか書いてあるけど、
その表現は的外れだと思う。
いわゆる「恋愛」とは簡単にジャンル分けできない感情を
丁寧に追うために書かれた一冊なのに、なんでこんな
台無しのキャッチコピーを付けたのか、理解に苦しみます。

柴崎さんらしく、ゆる〜い日常が淡々と描かれている。
主役はいつも通り関西人なんだけど、今回の舞台は東京。
旅行者の目線で観察された東京はなんだか新鮮で、まるで
知らない街のように感じる。
ソフィア･コッポラの『ロスト･イン･トランスレーション』
を観た時の感覚を思い出した。
この作家さんは、とにかく会話が上手い。
登場人物がにぎやかに関西弁を話し出すと、書割だった風景が
とたんに息を吹き込まれたかのように生き生きと動き出す。
そのたびに、ハッとさせられる快感が魅力です。
