万人に共感を与えることができるどうかは分かりませんが、あたたかい気持ちになる反面、とても切なく感じました。会社の同僚の人の言葉が優しいなあと・・・うるっときました。
”女子”の中で無理してる人達は読んで欲しいかな。

会社は辞められるけど、この世界からは出て行くことはできない。
腑に落ちないことだらけの世の中でも、ここでメシを食わねばならない。
なるほどなあ〜と思った作中の文章であります。

世界にはたくさんの国、人種、ことば、宗教、植物、食べ物、価値観など、それはもうありすぎて全てを知り尽くすことはできない。だからこそ、私たちはある物事に対して自分は全くの無力であることを知っておかなくてはならない。そんな世界で生きていくために必要なこと、それは「人と関わること」である。

本書の内容は主人公の小学校時代と25歳になって主人公が行く東南アジアの旅について交互に書かれている。旅を通して気づく自分自身のことや人とのかかわりに、主人公の心は微妙に変化していく。自分の好きなものしか受け入れようとしない風潮。自分だけのものさしや価値観だけで生きていくことがいかに退屈で損であるかを気づかせる。また、本書では神、祈りなど日本人の苦手な内容が多くでてくるが、そこで「変だ、気持ち悪い」と即座に思うのはやめてほしい。なぜなら宗教は世界を理解するために私たちからは切っても切り離せないものだからだ。“自分の世界はコントロールできない”だからこそ私たちは人と関わっていかなくてはいけないのだ。
