彼は、僕には想像できないほどの戦いをしていたからこそ、いつも笑顔で、空気をやわらかくする力を持っていたのだと感じます。
彼を思うとき、笑顔の彼しか、思い出せないのです。

一周忌で、テニス部の仲間が、川上の下に集まった。
そして、みなが各々の生活に、勢いを増して戻っていったように感じる、
また彼の下で合流すると約束して。

心配するな、俺らが忘れるわけないだろ。

「24時間テレビ」でのドラマ化が発表された
「にぃにのことを忘れないで―脳腫瘍と闘った8年間」。
原作のアマゾンのレビューの欄に、
「忘れるわけないだろ！」
とお友達のコメントが載っていて心に響きました。

主人公は、開成中学合格、15歳で脳腫瘍を発病。
負けそうになりながらも、二度の再発と闘いました。
壮絶としか言いようがない実話ですし、
ご本人、ご家族の気持ちを考えると
読んでいて、胸がはりさけそうになり、
涙が止まりませんでした。

最後の瞬間まで「生きること」
やめなかった青年から、
私は何を掴み取ることができるでしょう。

また母親としては、
息子たちがわかるようになったら
読んでもらいた一冊に加えました。
（もう200冊くらいあり、嫌われそうなんだけど）

保護者や教育者の方がいらしたら、
是非この本を、中学生以上くらいのお子様に、
お奨めしてもらいたいなと思っています。
とりわけ若い人たちには、
人生を変える一冊になるかもしれないと感じています。
