我が家のすてねこキキちゃんを思いながら読みました。キキも雨のそぼ降る寒い夜、通りがかった夫にひしとしがみついたまま我が家にやってきました。一度脱走を試みたこともありますし、爪にキズを負ったこともあり何だかそっくり！日々を「猫と共に生きている」と実感している私ども向けの絵本？それとも子供向けの絵本？・・・ともあれ、ほのぼのとした絵と小さな命を優しく見つめる文がピッタリ寄り添っていてイイ感じです。いつか孫ができたら読んで聞かせたいお話です。

中々素敵な絵本です。
著者の、色々な立場の人に対する思いやりを、思わせせて呉れます。
第一印象は、御伽噺ではなく、現実の何処の家にでも起り得る様なリアルな物語である、と言う事です。それでいて、一種の事件が起って山場の在る御話です。可愛い猫ちゃんの御話と言うよりは、読む人が子猫のメグちゃんの身に自分を投影する事を誘う内容だと思いました。
下に新たに赤ちゃんが生まれて、お母さんの愛を取られたと感じる、長男長女への教訓も感じられました。著者の意図せるところか否かは分りませんが。流石、元、先生の著作であると思いました（穿ちでしょうかね）。
予想より絵が少なく、「絵本」と言うよりは「挿絵のある本」だと思いました。絵も、唯々可愛く描く事に気を使っていず、むしろ冷静に淡々とした挿絵になっています。
＜数日後＞
孫娘（３歳４ヶ月）に読み聞かせました。絵に色が無いので少々心配しましたが、読み始めたら、意外と面白そうに聞いていました。内容が深いので意味は理解しなかったと思いますが、話を聞きながら、絵の猫や犬を眼で追っていたので、興味は持って貰えたと感じました。猫のキティちゃんが好きな子なので、猫のお話には関心を持った様です。
只一箇所、両頁ともに絵が無く文字ばかりの部分では、少し余所見をしていました。
親は「未だ難しいね」をと言っていましたが。
