5.0 out of 5 stars 珍曲秘曲の大事典, 2001/4/15
名曲を集めて解説した本は多いが、どれも有名な通俗名曲に偏りがちである。この本は、それらとは全く異なり、個人では手の届かない高価な音楽事典の抜粋版と捉えるといいだろう。作曲家名、生没年、出身国。そして、その主要作品については作曲年、作曲地、演奏時間、楽章構成、楽器構成、及び数行の解説が記されているのみだ。初心者向けではないが、有名な曲を一通り聴き終え、珍曲や未知の作曲家を探索し始めたら、最高のガイドとなるはずだ。名前さえ分かれば（カタカナでも英字でも）、どんな作曲家なのかが概ね分かる。ただ、この大著をもってしても、近年ブームの珍曲をカバーしきれないのだから、クラシック音楽は奥が深い。
