どこにでもありそうな街の淡々とした日常が、少しずつ茶色に染まっていくというお話。茶色に染まるというのは、他の色は認めない全体主義に支配されるということ。最初の頃、茶色党が茶色じゃない猫をすべて始末するという「ペット特別措置法」を出した時、主人公の「俺」は違和感を感じ、胸を痛めたけれど、何もしなかった。そのうち犬、新聞、ラジオ、本、、、と、茶色以外のものの取締りが行われるようになり、とうとう「昔、黒の犬を飼っていた」友人が逮捕されてしまう。どうして最初の頃に感じた違和感にきちんと向き合って、抵抗しなかったのか、と「俺」は後悔するが、遅かった。――私も今感じている違和感に向き合わなくてはいけないかな。。短いのに重い手応えのある本でした。

　ビンセントギャロの挿絵。淡々と始まる物語。
とても短い絵本に近い本ですが、内容はとっても濃く考えさせられます。
　今の日本はまさしくコレに当てはまる、と読んだ後、焦燥感に駆り立てられました。
「無関心でいるということ」
というのは、こういうことなのだ、日本もこんな世の中だけれど無関心に放置しておくと

日本国中茶色になりかねません。是非この本を沢山の皆さんに読んで考えてもらいたいです。

絵本~少ない文章に絵がついたもの？~だと思って見くびってはいけない。気がつかないうちに、いや本当は気がついていたのにやり過ごしてしまったために、世の中があっという間に茶色に染まっていく。

私は何度やり過ごしてきたのか、考えすぎないようにしてきたのか。やはり考え続けなければならない。せわしない日常に逃げてはいけない。そう思った。メッセージを読んで、さらに学習が必要と考えた。だから、今までやってこなかったこと、適当に済ませてきたことに取り組むことにした。
