　時間旅行をする男と、その妻の愛を描く…と聞くと、SFかな、とかあり得ないロマンスものかと思うのですが、これが、とてつもなく素敵な愛の物語だったのです。

この物語ではタイムトラベルが「超能力」ではなく、「障害」として扱われています。
どの時代に、どの場所に行くのかコントロールできない時間旅行。
自分以外は移動できないので、いつも見知らぬ時代に裸で放り出されてしまうヘンリー。
そんな彼に子供の時に出会い、何度も何度も時間を共にしたクレア。

共にすごした「現在」は十五年あまり。
でも、彼女は生涯にわたってヘンリーの出現を待ち続けます。

別離の哀しみをテーマにした恋愛物語としては、初めて共感し、涙することができました。
読後しばらくこのお話が頭から離れません。
小川洋子さん絶賛と帯にありましたが、それも納得の良書でした。

過去や未来に行ってみたいと思う気持ちは誰にでも
あるけれど、でもね。。
自分の意志に反して飛ばされる中、
それでも、２人は出会って、共に生きて行く
ことになるのだが。。。。
はじめは少し混乱しますが、読んで行くうちに明らかに
なっていきます。

ヘンリーは、極度なストレス状態になると「タイムトラベル」をしてしまうしかも自分の一糸まとわずでのタイムトラベルのため、タイムトラベル＝着る物を探す＆追っ手から逃げるという命がけの生活を余儀なくされていた。そんなある日「クレア」という素敵な女性に出会うところから話は始まっていきます。ヘンリーの視点とクレアの視点に分けられて、時間軸は過去から未来へ向ってえがかれてます。
