この本を手にしたきっかけはディズニーの映画。
ディズニー版を見たときに、何だか違和感を感じて
早速“原作”と称されるこの本を手にしました。

結論からいうと原作の方が断然オススメです。
この作品はあらゆるクリエイターの感性をくすぐるらしく
幾度も映画化されていますが、
いわゆるおいしいところが、殆ど誤魔化されています。
一番の違いは原作では主人公ともいえるフロロー。
彼は原作では副司教です。
神に貞淑を誓った人間が、ジプシー娘に恋焦がれるのです。
そのドロドロさ加減が、判事の場合とは全く比べものになりません。
そしてラスト。
原作のラストは、ディズニーみたいにハッピーじゃないけど
この本の中で一番好きな部分です。
ここは、ぜひ読んで欲しいので、実際読んでください。

「ノートルダム俯瞰」（だったと思う）
の章以外は、おもしろいので一気に読めるはず。
シンプルな装丁もこ洒落ていて、
デザイン的にもオススメの本です。

勿論ディズニーのもオススメですよ

水平な中世のパリに唯一垂直に立ち上がった大聖堂。その荘厳な建物を中心に、物語は進んでいく。レ・ミゼラブルの作者として有名なヴィクトル・ユゴーの初期の傑作。僧侶の身でエスメラルダを欲するクロード・フロロが宿命を推し進めて行き、最後には全てが光と共に終わる。僧侶の愛、兄弟愛、純粋なる愛、邪な愛、親子愛、様々な愛が崇高的、官能的に綴られるこの作品はまさに印刷書に刻まれた大聖堂である。
