中国の戦国時代、三国志をマンガ化した作品

この巻では、レッドクリフで名を馳せた周瑜が滅んでしまうことと、
戦略家、孔明と並び評される、竜鳳も玄徳に仕えることになる巻です。

14巻で、周瑜の策略で呉の孫権の妹と結婚という理由で玄徳をおびき寄せ
呉で玄徳を亡き者にしようとしていました。この策略を孔明が見抜き
何十にも張り巡らされた罠をかいくぐります。最後に孫権の妹を
配偶者として、自分の領地、荊州へと戻ってくる話があります。
また、次の世代のお話に繋がってゆく、長安の落城もこの巻です。

この本は、三国志をエンターティメントした三国志演義を基に
作られており、周瑜の最後も三国志演義の名台詞で終わっています。
周瑜ファンでもある私としては、この巻はつらい内容ですが
三国志演義に忠実なこのマンガは、良くできているなぁと思います。

三国志の漫画です。この巻では、とうとう呉の提督周瑜が戦場で、倒れます。孔明と同時代に生まれた悲哀を述べています。優れた提督でも、常に、一枚上の孔明の存在、人生やり切れないという想いが、出ています。歴史の巡り合わせを感じます。巻末のエッセイの長江の紀行文は、中国の歴史を思う上で、良い文章だと思いました。

毎日が「関ヶ原」みたいな物語。
この巻も多くの謀略に満ち、どんどん生首が飛ぶ。
国境の存在が平和の象徴であるように思われる。
結婚あり、不倫ありの楽しめる巻。

「思えば玄徳は果報すぎる
慎まねばならん　慎まねばならん」
と自戒する姿が印象的。

吉岡忍氏の巻末レビューもおもしろい。
