【ずっとそばに…】に出会ったのは、
仕事、人間関係に鬱々トゲトゲ、気持ちがささくれていた時期でした。
立ち読みしてて、泣いてしまいました(T_T)/

自宅で読み返し、自分の悩みが（なんて、ちっぽけなんだろう…）と思い知らされました。
ひとりでも多くの人に読んでほしい！
作者【いもとようこ】さんのメッセージが、ぎゅっと込められた絵本です。

「くまさんは こどもたちを けっして ひとりぼっちにはさせません。
くまさんは ひとりぼっちが どんなに さみしいか
だれよりも よく しっていたからです。」

「…くまさんは、ぼくたちを ひとりぼっちには しなかった。
こんどは ぼくたちが くまさんを ひとりぼっちには させない。」


めったに泣かない私だけど 数分で読めてしまう本なのに
最初から最後まで、涙が流れます。

いつもそばに置きたい大切な本です。

私は人間がやっていることを 心の底から悲しく思います。

　幼い頃、両親を人間につかまえられて失ったくまさんは、森のうさぎやりす、きつねの孤児たちを大切に育てていました。自分の子どものように世話をして、寝るときも抱っこして、決して、ひとりぼっちにはさせませんでした。ひとりぼっちがどんなにさびしいかを誰よりもよく知っていたからです。
　
　ある年の冬、山の木の実が全く実らず、食べ物が手に入らず、森の子どもたちがどんどん弱っていきました。子どもたちのために決心して人間の住む里に下りていったくまさんは、農家の庭先の柿の実をとりました。そのとき・・・

　森の動物の子どもたちを守ろうとするくまさんのやさしさ。
　そして、息絶えたくまさんを見放さない森の動物の子ども達のやさしさ。
　人間が山里に住むようになって、山奥へと追いやられた動物達。
　くまさんの両親を殺したのも、くまさんを殺したのも人間。

　ほのぼのとした絵の世界の中に、動物たちのやさしさと動物たちが置かれている過酷な環境が描き出され、人間の残酷さが浮き彫りにされます。また、どんな過酷な環境であっても「ずっとそばに」居てくれる存在があれば幸せです。それは、森の動物たちも私たち人間も同じでしょう。絵本の最後に添えられた作者のあとがきにも深く共感しました。絵本のストーリーを通して、幼い子どもたちの心にも作者のメッセージが確かに届くことでしょう。

　「ねこの絵本」「そばのはなさいたひ」でボローニャ国際児童図書展エルバ賞２年連続受賞、「いもとようこうたの絵本 １」で同展グラフィック賞受賞した作者ならではの力量が感じられる美しく切ない絵本です。幼い子どもたちに向けて書かれた絵本ですが、読み終えたとき、一人の大人として、かけがえのない命、かけがえのない存在について問うことを促されました。
