どこにでもありそうなイジメ。
泣いている子の前で繰り広げられる、様々な言い訳。
「わたしのせいじゃないわ」「ぼくのせいじゃない」
半永久的に続きそうな言い訳の果てにある世界に、
かわいらしいイラストから、モノクロの写真に変わる瞬間に、
私は言葉を失いました。だけど、きっと、これが現実です。
絵本のくせに、全然甘くない。

~　『わたしのせいじゃない』では、イジメを見たこどもたちやイジメに加わったこどもの意見が次々に出てくるのが、ページを追うごとに不気味に感じられる迫力を持っており、「わたしのせいじゃない？」として掲載されている写真を見て、「わたしのせいじゃない」と言える人は、この世に生きている限り誰もいないはずです。私達は誰でもなんらかの見て見ぬふり~~をしているのですから。教育の現場だけではなく、家庭でもぜひみんなで読んでおきたい本です。家庭での見て見ぬふりが、学校や社会でのそれにつながっていくのですから。~

薄くてかわいい絵本ですが、気軽に開くことができたのは初めの一回
だけでした。次々に登場してくる子どもたちの主張は様々なのに、共通する「わたしのせいじゃない」という一つの言葉。私もこの中の一人なのだと思いながらも、後半の写真を未だまっすぐに見ることができません。現実を受け止められない自分の弱さを感じます。本を閉じた後までずっと心に焼き付く一冊です。
