これは、看護師向けだけの本ではありません。患者として、看護師にかかわる人にも是非一読するべき本だと思います。そうすることで、看護師が何を考えて私たち（患者）を見ているのかがとても詳細に分かります。
私たちが一般的にイメージしている「看護師＝白衣の天使、やさしさ」などと思っていたことがいかに恥ずべき考えだったと思いました。身体的に重労働だけでなく、精神的、感情的に重労働の一面を理解できました。

人間を相手に仕事することによってもたらされる「感情」の揺らぎが多数の文献や著者の経験を元に書かれています。

「お客にいつも笑顔ばかり見せていて、やりきれないことが多い」「自分の感情を押し殺してサービスしてやりきれない」と悩んでいるサービス業に就く方にも一読の価値があると思います。
非常に読みやすい文体ですので、ボリュームがあるにもかかわらず一気に読めるものでした。

平易な言葉で語られているが内容は深い。対人援助に関わる人々が行き詰まり悩むであろうさまざまな現象を取り上げて，「感情」という地平で解釈されている。なるほどと腑に落ちることばかりである。
敢えて難を言えばやや冗長な印象.

　日々の看護に不全感を感じ、患者とのかかわりに自分は何を求めているのか、不全感を払拭する為にはなにをすればいいのか考えることが出来た1冊でした。
　患者との関わり、周囲とのかかわりに不安や疑問を感じた時に読み返すこともあり、自己理解を深める為に必要な本です。
