5.0 out of 5 stars 精神医療、地域保健福祉に関わる人に読んでほしい本, 2006/10/29
保健師さんの本だけど、保健師さん以外の人にも広く読んでほしい本です。
著者が保健師として実際に関わったケースが、分かりやすく１２の話にまとめられて紹介されています。
（匿名化のためのフィクションは含まれますが）実体験が丁寧に綴られており、読みながら私も彼女のケースを追体験することができました。まさに「事件は現場で起こっている」のであり、考えさせられること、学ぶことが多くありました。ドラマのような大逆転もハッピーエンドも期待できない中で、それでも出来ることに誠実に取り組んでいく中で変わることも確かにあるという現実のドラマが描かれています。
理想と現実の距離を縮めるためにひたむきに奔走する著者の姿が浮かび上がってきますが、本当の熱意というのは、常に自分に問い続ける勇気と真摯さが伴って初めて、周りを変えていくのだろうということを改めて思い出させてくれる本です。

一般の人には保健師の仕事はどう映るのでしょう。
この本は、一般の人が読んでも十分読み応えのある読み物としてのレベルをクリアしていると自信を持ってお勧めできます。
そして同業者には、様々な理由で萎えてしまいそうな仕事への熱い思いを呼び覚ましてくれる「目の離せない本」です。
揺るぎない仕事の軌跡を格調高い文体に織り込んで、広く世間に残してくださったからです。こんな仕事ができたらいいなぁ、あぁ、私もこの場面では腹が立って仕方ないだろうなぁ、そういう思いをめぐらしながらページを繰りました。

看護学生である私にとっては、色々なケースに臨むにあたり視点的にいいヒントにもなる。読んでいてすぐに終わってしまったという感じで、さーっと飽きずに一気に読める、
