山や公園に緑があふれて来る頃、ふらっと立ち寄った書店で見つけたのが、これまた緑一杯の表紙のこの本でした。

引越しを機に、新たにベランダガーデニングにでもとりかかろうかと思いつつ、でも野菜なんて無理だろうとハナから
諦めていたのですが、そんな考えを俄然やる気に変えてくれました。

本書は、タイトル通りベランダでの、主にプランタを用いた野菜栽培に特化して、また種まきから間引き追肥など、
収穫までのステップを段階的に、逐一写真を使うことによって詳しく解説してくれています。

私のように「追肥」も「土寄せ」も分からない野菜作り初心者にも、視覚的でとてもうれしい限りです。また、それぞれ
のステップが種まきからおおよそ何週間ぐらいになるのかを省かず書いてくれているのも安心です。

取り上げられている野菜類の数も多すぎず、少なすぎず（４４種類）、当分は楽しめそうです。

写真が多く大変わかりやすい。プロの本らしく妙に「格好つけてない」ところがいいです。
この種類のガーデニング本には、いわゆる素人が書いたものも多いのですが、たとえ簡単であっても「園芸」である以上、きちんと植物に対する知識のある人が書いたものがお勧めです。私も色々園芸本は持っていますが、やはり信頼できて実用性があるのは専門家の著書でした。

写真が豊富。本当に小さいコンテナで作れるんだと感動する写真です。私は、一度も作物や花を育てたことは、ありませんでしたが、友人が、新潟の田舎へ引っ越し、畑仕事を楽しんでいるにつけ、自分も住んでいるマンションの狭いベランダで作物を作ってみたいと思っていたところ出会った
一冊で、野菜作りの魅力に引き込まれました。素晴らしい本ですよ。
