もう11巻なのに、まだ新鮮な気持ちで読めて楽しめるのがスゴイです。
掲載作品の｢二つの箱」は、誰にでも馴染みのある古典を基に、奥深く感慨のある仕上がり（律の意外な一面が私的には最高でした・笑）
「とぎれた蔓」「小さい虫」は怖いです。でも今市子さんの場合は読者を驚かそうという怖さではなく、上品な怖がらせ方をしてくれるので大好きです。

「鬼の嫁取り」は、そうきたか！と思いました。シリーズをずっと読んでいる者にとっては、こういう広がり方も嬉しいです。これからもずっとこんな感じで、時にはおじいちゃんや開伯父さんの話も挿みつつ、このシリーズを長く続けて欲しいなと思います。

初めは文庫で出会い、文庫の発行が待ちきれずコミックス版を買いつづけています。
日本古来の怪談や不思議話、時には民俗学的な土俗信仰、呪術信仰などを絶妙にふりかけつつ、飯島一家の怖くて楽しい日々がつづられています。
これを読むと、怪異も日常の中の出来事に思えてくるから不思議です。特に律のお母さんとお婆ちゃんが最高。彼女達は怪異に遭遇しながらも、それを日常の出来事ととらまえ、淡々と明るく毎日を送っている。
賞には縁が無いけれど、文章力は絶妙で好きな作家である菊地秀行氏が、とある小説のあとがきで、この百鬼夜行抄を読んだ感動が忘れられないと書いていた。時が経てば名作と呼ばれるだろうとも。
1年に1度の続刊が待ちきれない思いです。

2002年5月までの作品がソノラマコミック文庫では第6巻、コミックス版では第10巻までに入っているので、
文庫第7巻を待ちきれずにこちら(とコミックス版12巻)を買いました。
「二つの箱」ではラストで唐突に、指輪をはめてベッドに座っているシーンに
戻ってくるのであれ？という感じがしました。今までにも時空間が唐突に移動する話は
たくさんあったのですが、前にどこでなにをしていて、という説明は一応あったのに
これでは色々と省略されている感じなので。
でも読むたびによく練られたストーリーだなーと感心します。

不思議で説明のつかない話、を｢ひと｣と｢ひとでないもの｣で
