正直なところ、星のパイロットシリーズは、笹本裕一作品の中で、そんなに好みの物ではない。 巨大ロボットによる派手な戦闘シーンもなければ、超能力少女も出てこないからだ。 しかし、このブループラネットを見て、かなりその印象が改められた。 それはこの作品が、「冒険」をうたっているからだ。

派手な戦闘シーンなどは無論、何も無い。全編が地味な印象で話がすすむ。 しかし非常に惹きつけられるものがある。 それはこの物語が「希望」をうたっているから。 冒険を続ける為のモチベーションをみせてくれるから。 少しでも宇宙に夢を馳せた事のある人間ならば、この本を読むことで、もう一度その夢が見られるかもしれない。

たとえそうでない人でも、自分だけの夢を持っていた人ならば、決して退屈する事は無いと思う。

　ますますマニアックなＳＦ世界になったと思います。出てくる物全てがマニア泣かせで難しい専門用語が多く、（好きな人には、たまらない！私もそうですが。）それが全て、今の宇宙航空工学技術の延長で考えて書かれていて、数年後には、起こりうるのではないかと思はせる所が好きです。シリーズ1、2、に比べると少しばかり地味なストーリーに見えるが実のところ凄い事やってます。この作品を読むことで宇宙に詳しくなれます。

軍事衛星から観測データを盗み、それによって軍から追われる身となったスウの大活躍。いわゆるサスペンス風に仕上がっています。ただし、「星パイ」シリーズですから軍から追われる緊張感はありますが、射殺されるような血生臭い恐怖感は無いので、安心して読めます。

ストーリーの鍵となる軍事衛星からデータを盗み出すハッキング手法についても前作より分かりやすく現実味のある手段、内容になっています。シナリオの完成度は、シリーズ一番の出来といえます。ただ、まとまり過ぎた分、フィクションとしての面白さも減ってしまったのが残念です。

そして、ロケットの打上げという、シリーズ必須のイベントがストーリー上から無くなり、「パイロット」が主役では無くなりました。マリオとスウというエンジニアコンビが活躍する本作には「星のエンジニア」のタイトルの方がふさわしいと思います。
