それは眩しく強く輝く星と、妖しく美しく輝く星。
藤木対伊良子、その戦いが遂に始まる。

藤木が技を繰り出せば、伊良子は技にて受け止める。
伊良子が攻めに転ずれば、藤木も技にて吹き飛ばす。
まさに一進一退の攻防。
伊良子が構えた虎眼の秘奥「流れ星」、
それすらも藤木は神技を用て凌ぐ。

そして、戦いは最終段階へ。
伊良子が見せるは虎眼始め門弟達を悉く葬った「無明逆流れ」。
藤木が見せるは牛股との特訓で会得した「簾牙」。
その刃が交差し…


真剣勝負の緊張感が見る者にひしひしと襲いかかり、
尋常でないスリルを味わう事の出来る怪作です。

本巻は死闘ながらも伊良子が藤木の実力を図るかの様な展開。

師に互するまいと侮りの一撃
師と同等であるかを確認するような二撃
師を超える事が出来るかを問う三撃

この死闘で、二人が作中最強になったことが実感できる。

ついに、藤木と伊良子の決戦の刻が訪れました。
一巻まるごと勝負が続く、尋常ではない密度の巻です。
相対する二人はほとんどセリフもなく、ただ互いの秘剣にて語りあいます。
読む側にも、その場に立ち会うがごとき緊張感が伝わります。
開いたページから、殺気が流れ出てくるようです。
巻を追うごとに密度が上がるかのような、作画のテンションの高さも驚愕ものです。
まさに、作者も藤木や伊良子のごとく、命を削って戦っているのでしょう。
まったく誇張ではなく、最高の時代劇マンガだと思います。
残酷描写に引かずに、万人に読んでもらいたい名作です。
