すずめのチュンタとおばあちゃんの交流を描いた心温まる絵本。
すべてチュンタの視点で語られていくところが共感をさそいます。

交流といっても、会話をしたり、直に食べ物を与えたりといった
シーンはなく、お互いの心の中での想いを通しての間接的なもの。
チュンタを意識して、さりげなく庭に米粒をまく、ウメコばあちゃん。
家の中からそっと見守られているのを、知りつつ庭で遊ぶチュンタ。

物理的には一歩距離をおいた関係ですが、花火にからんだエピソードを
とおして、お互いの心が触れ合う瞬間はみどころです。

ひょっとしたら、こんなこと実際にあるかな？
なんて空想と現実のギリギリのところに居心地の良さを感じる作品。
