西日本国際空港で開催される『魅惑のジュエリー展』が伝説のテロリスト『フランチェスコ・アウレリオ』に狙われた。迎え撃つのは、空前の防衛システムROMES06とその運用者、成嶋。前作と異なり襲撃者側は、洗練された犯罪者集団。個々の個性も光るし、展開のスピーディだ。犯罪者にまつわるエピソードも物語を盛り上げる。犯罪者がなぜ、アウレリオを名乗るのか、等の背景も丁寧に描かれており、面白かった。ページ数も多く、装丁も綺麗。前作はあまり好きではなかったが、今回は楽しめた。前作を読んでいない人も、これ単体で十分に読める作品となっている。

空港の管理システムとそのシステム管理者を主人公としたサスペンス小説の続編。
今回は、国際的なテロリストからの脅迫から事件は始まる。
セキュリティ・安全と自由、テロリズムとの戦いといったテーマかと思いきや、話は、思ったほどには広がらず、犯人たちと主人公たちの知恵比べにとどまっている。
保険会社がテロリストを利用するっていう設定は面白んだけどなぁ。

前作を踏まえて、成嶋やROMES開発にまつわるエピソードと伝説のテロリストを絡めて、それなりのエンターテイメントに仕上がっていると思います。
でも、リアリティを追求すると、どうしても設定に無理があるような。
たとえば、確実に武器を持って逃走している複数の国際的犯罪者を、犬を連れた一般人が一人で追うとかありえなくないですか？
なんでその時点で空港警察とか、警備部総動員しないの？
どうして民間組織だけで決着をつけようとするの？
カメラの設置区域の問題からも、ROMESの不完全性を補うためには実行部隊が必要不可欠だろうに、なぜそこから目を背けて、奇跡みたいなご都合主義のマンパワー主義なんでしょうか？
作中の説明だけではご都合主義過ぎて理解できないんですけれども。

現場に成嶋が出て行って、流れ弾にでも当たって死んだらROMESの制御はどうなっちゃうわけ？
なんだかしらけて話に入れなかった。

一番嫌だったのが、タジリとリョウのエピソード。
この二人の設定も動きも結末も不満はないけれども、黒部のおせっかいのせいで全てが台無しになったというのがなんとも後味が悪い。
好奇心と思い込みだけで人の心を踏みにじってるのは誰だ。余計なお世話だ。
黒部は二人の過去に何一つ関わりないというのに。腐ったイヌ（刑事）根性ってやつか。最低だ。
その行動をもって成嶋が感情という要素を飲み込む流れもちょっと気に入らないけど、それ以前に、明らかに一触即発のやばい状況になっているのに、どうして黒部が仕掛け人のくせにただ「拳を握って」見守っているのか。
おかしすぎる。
行動しろよ。お前のせいなんだぞ。なに傍観者ぶってる？
エピローグは本当に頭に来た。誰のせいでこうなったと思ってるんだ？欠けるところのないカップルだったのに。
飛び立ってほしかった。

黒部の行動があまりに不愉快だったので★一つ減らしました。けどまあ、ここまで思い入れできるカップルに遭えたから、悪くはない。
