ストーリーは抜群に面白いし、愛すべきキャラたち満載なのですが、ハウルやクレストマンシーもののように惚れ込むところまでは残念ながら行きませんでした。

なぜなら、これまでのＤＷＪワールドをつぎはぎしたかのようで衝撃が薄かったのと、主人公ニックに今ひとつ深みを感じられなかったから。（ニックは未訳の作品"Deep Secret"に登場したキャラクターだとのことで、そちらを読んでいたらまた違ってくるのかもしれませんが）

でも、一気に読ませてしまう力はさすがＤＷＪです。

一気に読んでしまった。
この｢花の魔法　白のドラゴン｣―ポップに略せば｢花ドラ｣は、
ある意味でファンタジーの王道を行く物語である。
イギリスによく似た異世界ブレスト、国をゆるがす陰謀を知った少女が、
異世界の少年の助けを借りて、邪悪な魔法使いに立ち向かう････。
神話やＲＰＧによくある展開だ。

だがそこは、ジョーンズ作品。一筋縄ではいかない。
主人公達に降りかかる災難は雪だるま式で、どーなるんだか
先は見えず、ページをめくるのももどかしいほど。
最後まで目が放せない。

また異世界が舞台だが、ジョーンズ作品中もっともイギリスっぽい。
巧みに取り入れられたアーサー王伝説やケルト神話が、
物語を一層魅力的にしている。

そしてもうひとつ、｢花ドラ｣では少年と少女がの出会う･･･
ボーイ・ミーツ・ガールの物語でもある。
普通はここで恋が生まれるのだが、そこらへんは微妙だ。
思春期前期の主人公達は自分の事しか考えていないし。
そんな２人の関係も、よく味わっていただきたい。

待ちに待ったダイアナウィンジョーンズさんの作品です！！なによりもうれしかったのは、キャラクターの多さです！怪物？まで出てきます！ファンタジーは児童向けと決めつけずに、是非読んで欲しいと思います。ですが、ある意味、この作者らしい作品となっているので、合わない方にはオススメしにくい作品でもあるといえばあります。でも私的にはぜったいオススメの作品です。続編出たら即買います！！
