高畑 勲
1935年、三重県生まれ。アニメーション映画監督。’59年に東京大学仏文学科卒業後、東映動画へ入社、劇場用映画「太陽の王子ホルスの大冒険」(’68)で初監督。以後、劇場用中編映画「パンダコパンダ」シリーズ(’72,’73)や、TV作品「アルプスの少女ハイジ」(’74)「母をたずねて三千里」(’76)「赤毛のアン」(’79)の演出を手がける

百瀬 義行
1953年、東京都生まれ。日本アニメーションを経て、ジブリ作品に「火垂るの墓」(’88)から参加。以来「おもひでぽろぽろ」(’91)「平成狸合戦ぽんぽこ」(’94)など高畑監督作品の絵コンテ作画を担当。現在はジブリ製作の実験アニメ「ギブリーズ」の脚本・演出を担当

近藤 喜文
1950年、新潟県生まれ。日本アニメーションを経て、ジブリ作品の「火垂るの墓」(’88)「おもひでぽろぽろ」(’91)のキャラクターデザイン・作画監督、「もののけ姫」の作画監督、「耳をすませば」の監督をつとめる。1998年逝去

保田 夏代
1957年、大阪府生まれ。日本アニメーションを経て、ジブリ作品には「火垂るの墓」(’88)「魔女の宅急便」(’89)「おもひでぽろぽろ」(’91)に原画として参加(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

１０代の頃はただ「かわいそう」という視点だけで涙していた「火垂るの墓」。しかし２０代になって、この作品が多くの人の涙を誘う理由のひとつに「キャラクターの動き」があるのではないかと思うようになり、この絵コンテ集を購入しました。

この本には、節子の子供らしいしぐさや清太のキビキビした行動など、細かい演技指導（？）が秒単位で丁寧に描き込まれています。
これらを観ていると、この作品が決してお涙頂戴的な演出で出来上がっているのではなく、的確な人物描写の積み重ねで出来ている事が分かります。
ストーリーを客観的に見ると、この兄妹はまだ他の選択ができたんじゃないかと思うところもありますが、それでも引き込まれるのはやはりキャラのリアルな動きがあってこそのものでしょう。

ちなみにこの絵コンテ集には、本編でカットされてしまったシーンもきちんと描かれています。とにかく丁寧な絵なので、セル画でなくても問題なく見る事ができますよ。
