ゴルテルといったら「ソフィーの世界」が有名ですが
この「カードミステリー｣のほうが読み物としては面白い。

この話は何層にも重なっていて
結局はナポレオンの時代にまでさかのぼります。
そして最後に全てつながり謎が解けます。

文章もすんなり自分の中に入ってくるし
難しい哲学の教義もわかりやすく

ソフィーよりも哲学の第一歩としては適してると思います。
もちろん哲学を抜きにしても
ファンタジーとして十分楽しめます。

「哲学」にアレルギーを持っている人
「ソフィーの世界」に挫折した人
ぜひ読んでみてください。

ソフィーの世界で一躍有名となった氏の著作です。トランプはなぜ13x4=52　+1　なんだろう？ジョーカーって？　不思議なトランプの世界にはいりこんでしまった主人公は、その中で自分自身をみつけだす。タネあかしができないのが残念です。知らず知らずの間に私もページをわくわくしながらめくっていました。氏の、たくみな情景、人物描写によって、まるで昔、子供のころに絵本をよんでもらっていたころの気分に戻ることができると思います。

自分が読んだ初めてのヨースタイン＝ゴルデルの作品。『ソフィーの世界』はまだ読み途中だ…というより、私は挫折した一人と言ってもよいだろう。

『ソフィーの世界』は、「先生」のいる話だ。はじめから主人公ソフィーは哲学のレッスンを受けていく。内容は古代ギリシア哲学から丁寧にかつ細かい。

易しく入門的だかしっかりとした哲学の考え方を「教える」ことが、その本の目的なのだと思った。
だが、『カードミステリー』はそうではない。
決して教科書としては扱えないし、扱ってもいけないのである。

この物語であえて「先生」と呼ぶのならそれは主人公の父親が挙げられるだろう。しかし主人公にとってはあくまで父親であり、ジョーカーとの緊張感ある接触をするのも少年、つまり子供である主人公だけなのである。
子供が発するからこその根本的な問い――それが哲学の本質であり、瞬きしている間に消えてしまうほど儚く、鮮烈なもの。

それを感じ取った時、これが物語でしかなくてはならず、かつその上で哲学書と呼んでもいいということに気づくのではないだろうか。

感動を覚えた読者に深く愛されてほしい本であるので、星４つ。
