途中までは、喪失感を味わう30代の物語、のような感じかなと思いつつ読んでいたのですが、、いえいえちょっと特殊な人たち（というか人間関係）を描いた話でした。
「彼らの物語であると同時に、私の物語である」というのではないです。正直、ちょっと展開にやりすぎ感があります。

それに、登場人物一人一人はまっとうな人たちなので、そんなふうな人間関係になるものか？とも思いました。まあ子供の頃の環境を大きな原因としているので、素人はなんとも言えませんが。

物語は二転三転し、あっという間に読み終えました。
退屈な読書でなかったことは確かです。

また、物語の舞台は奈良です。主人公たちが周るところが具体的な地名や史跡名とともに出てきます。
作者の描く奈良はどことなくオカルトチックですが、しかし奈良に行きたくなりました。

失踪した異母兄弟を探すため、彼の恋人と名乗る女と奈良に旅に出る。言ってしまえば、ただそれだけのお話だが、恩田陸の筆致＋奈良の幻想世界感で、瞬く間に極上のミステリーに変化する。恋愛ミステリー…かな？

紀行小説とも言えるぐらいの情景描写。
奈良は同じ古都・京都とは違う独特な雰囲気を持っていると思う。
物語の中でもそういった奈良の雰囲気を活かした、幻想的な世界観を前面にした、全体的に「ぼやけている」話に感じた。

その「場所」を想起させるだけではない。
その「場所」に行って見たいと思わせる文章力がある。

明日香や東大寺、春日大社は教科書などの上では知ってはいても、実際に行った事のある人は少ないのでは。

ちょっと前、橿原神宮（作中にもたびたび登場）に行ったのだが、やっぱり良かった。こちらはあまり馴染みはないかもだけど、かなり荘厳。

個人的にはハードカバーの、何ともいえない物憂げな表紙が好きだったが、文庫版も味があって、物語にそくしています。

「こうして一人で歩く時間は人生にどのくらいあるのだろう。（中略）どんなに誰かが隣に歩いている、一緒に歩いているという錯覚を持とうが、歩いている時はしょせん一人きりなのに。」　270ページより

本屋で見て気になっていたが、すぐには触手が動かず、古本屋にあったので買ってみた小説です。

内容は、ロードムービーならぬロードノベルってやつですね。
奈良の情景を思い浮かべるには良い小説かもしれませんが、ストーリー自体はぱっとせず、主人公にも魅力を感じません。
要所要所に、「愛のサーカス」などの童話・逸話が挿入されていたのは面白かった。
あと最後一文「新しい旅、新しい物語が始まろうとしていた」はGood！
