単行本にアテネオリンピックのことや、オリンピック以後が加筆されています。
体がかたいというのは　水泳選手にとって不利といわれて、いたのを長所にできるように泳法を工夫していろようです。
プロ野球のコーチの本も読んだことがありますが、打撃ファームは十人十色選手の長所を伸ばすことに心がけていると
故高畠氏はいっていました。北島選手のコーチも同じ考え方だと思いました。
専門家がボランティアで北島選手をサポートしていたのは、知りませんでした。
かなりのお金が動いているのだと思っていました。
あとがきに人はお金動かない、これを根本にノンフィクションを書きたいと思っていたと、書かれています。
北島選手は北京オリンピックを最初から目標に、長期計画でやってきたようなのでオリンピックがとても楽しみです。

北島さんは、はじめ平凡な記録な選手だったそうですが、それがなぜオリンピクで世界記録樹立という、ことを成し遂げることができたのか、この本を読めばわかります。北島さんの歴史がわかります。
