トンデモ精神科医伊良部シリーズ第三弾。帯コピーの「伊良部だって、ひきこもる」が本作の残念さを物語っている気がする。そこしか拾うところがないのかねえ。だってこれ、クライマックスでもとりわけ印象深いエピソードでもないのに。このコピー、表題作中のエピソードなのだが、四編中三編までがある種のモデル（パロディ）小説で、表題作のみがオリジナル。このバランスの悪さはなんだろう。
加えてこれまでと異なる点に、
★伊良部の存在感が希薄化
★看護師マユミのキャラに異変あり
があげられよう。ファンから不満の声が出たのも無理はあるまい。
しかしながら、「つまらない」とバッサリ書けないのが厄介なところで。三編のモデルは明らかにナベツネ氏、ホリエモン氏、黒木瞳さんなのだが、文庫ゆえタイムリーさは損なわれているものの、笑ってしまったし、思わず唸らされてしまう場面もあった。
思うに、三編が伊良部シリーズ本編に組み入れられているから違和感を醸すのでは。伊良部の存在感はかすむし、表題作は浮くし、ネタが尽きたか？と憶測を生むし・・・いいことがないではないか。スピンオフ的位置づけであれば割り切って楽しめたのではと思う。
シリーズを読んできた者としては・・・多弁なマユミには関心が持てない。あきれるほどぶっ飛んだ伊良部が見たい。誰かの顔が浮かぶ話より、区民プールの忍び込みに失敗する無名の会社員の話が読みたい。
そうして思い切り笑いたいのだ。

少し厳しいけど、星３つかなあ。

腹がよじれるまで笑わせてもらった前2作からすると若干パワーダウンの感は否めない。

それというのも登場人物がナベツネやホリエモン、黒木瞳をモデルにしたとはっきりわかってしまい、こちらの想像力を若干削いでしまうほうに作用してしまったからだ。書名タイトルのメイン作品も東京の八丈島を舞台に鹿児島県の徳之島（安岡興治派と徳田虎雄派の抗争で有名）を移植したような話で、確かに面白いのだが今一弾けさせて貰えなかった。

伊良部シリーズの3冊目。4つの話が収められた短編集です。

表題作の「町長選挙」は、約半分の頁数を占めます。伊良部が初めて出張する話であり、主要なクライアント以外の大勢に影響を与える話でもあり、シリーズ中で異彩を放っています。

「町長選挙」以外の話には、実在の有名人をモデルにしたであろうクライアントが登場します。また伊良部が本当にただの「あほう」で終わっている感じの話もあります。シリーズのファンは、これらの要素に拒絶反応を示すかもしれません。

しかしアクの強いクライアントの登場と矛盾するようですが、それぞれの話の密度が濃く、私はシリーズ最高の出来であると感じました。特に「町長選挙」はキャラ小説では無く、1つの短編小説として非常に楽しめました。

気楽に読めるところは変わっていないので、誰にでもお勧め出来ます。
