はっきり言って、性描写が過剰である。
正直辟易した。
ストーリー的にある程度の性描写が必要なのはやむをえないが、ちょっと行き過ぎ。
作者の欲求不満の捌け口とでも解釈すべきか。
性描写をもっと抑えると、作品に深みが出て、よりハードボイルド色が鮮明になったと思うのだが。

また、アキが「ヒートアイランド」のころと較べると、まったくだめ男に成り下がっているのも、不満である。
「ヒートアイランド」のアキは何だったんだろう。

「ワイルドソウル」や「ヒートアイランド」を読んで、作者に過剰に期待しすぎたのかもしれない。

「ヒート・アイランド」「ギャングスター・レッスン」の続編だが、この「サウダージ」が最も良かった。

この作品でのアキ（シリーズを通しての主人公）は、ハードボイルド的な男としては描かれていない。どちらかと言えば、恋に悩む普通の男として描かれている。しかし、アキはまだ２０歳そこそこだ。ストリートギャングあがりで修羅場をくぐっていたとしても、いくら強がってもまだ若い。恋にも悩むし、柿沢・桃井と仕事にブルッたりもする。

この作品は、アキが本物のギャングになるための内面的な葛藤が一つの主題になっていると感じた。

前作は、アキがストリートギャングから本物のギャングへ成長する過程を作品にしたという意味合いで「ギャングスター・レッスン」というタイトルがつけられたのだと思うが、その内容は車や銃などの道具類あるいは心構えみたいなものに偏っていた。アキもそれに悩む暇もなかった。道具類の描写に費やす字数も頁数も多かった。まぁ、そこがハードボイルド的だといってしまえばそれまでだが・・・。たしかに、そういった要素も含めてレッスンなのだが、アキの内面は殆んど描かれていなかったのは間違いない。

しかし、この作品でのアキは普通に悩むし、怖れもする。ギャング稼業への戸惑いも感じる。そして、この作品にはそんなアキの姿を映す鏡のような存在がいる。もう一人の主人公ともいえる「耕一」だ。

アキと和子、耕一とＤＤを中心としてストーリが展開するこの作品。前作と合わせて本当に意味での「ギャンスター・レッスン」といえるのではなかろうか。

いまでも、前作「ギャングスター・レッスン」は好きになれない（レビューもしたけど☆×２）が、この「サウダージ」を読んだ今では、必要な作品だったのかな、という気もしている。

「ヒートアイランド」「ギャングスター・レッスン」+「ワイルドソウル」の続編です。

耕一は、かつて、桃井と柿沢にギャングのレッスンを受けたが追放され、今では一匹狼になって、強盗をして、糊口をしのぐ日々。
故郷も過去も消した耕一。そんな彼が、出会った女は、コロンビアから来た金髪の出稼ぎ売春婦、ＤＤ。わがままで、金に汚く頭も悪いが、何故か惹かれてしまう耕一。そしてＤＤとブラジルに渡る資金を稼ぐ為に再び桃井達に接近する。

時には、汚いまでの性描写もありますが、それが返って、このストーリーの熱さを物語っていて、私は好きです。それとは、対照的な対照的なアキの純愛ぶりも面白いし。

盗み・車・セックス・ブラジルを盛り込んだ、垣根ワールドの集大成だと、私は思います。
