私は、田口ランディは日本の文学史に名を残す人だと
思っています。
この１冊を読めば納得できるでしょう。

表現者として極北に屹立しているすさまじい内容です。
ここまで描写できるその心の強さ、表現者としての
使命感。

彼女がここまで到達したその速度の陰にどのくらいの
努力があったのか。。。
進化し続ける田口ランディのひとつの到達点として
おすすめします。

評者は田口さんのエッセイを高く評価し、小説については少々苦手とすることを、正直に申し上げる。本当は、好んでいるものについてだけ書くのがよろしい。何かを書くときには、少しでも胸の高鳴ることを書きたい。そう思っているのだが、この本を読んで不思議な連想が湧いたので、短く記します。

この短編集に出てくる人々は、コムデギャルソンの店員にはなれそうもない。そう感じた。

何を言いたいのか。コムデギャルソンで服を買ったことのある人ならばわかると思うのだけれど、店員さんは声をかけるまでは寄ってこない。セールスしない。アピールしない。

それに対し、田口さんの小説世界の人物たちは、放っておいても「何かをしでかす」。

どちらがよいという問題ではない。しかし、田口さんの小説の世界観を持つとコムデギャルソン的世界が見えなくなる。世界の広さや多様性と切り結んでいるように自分では感じながらも、静謐な世界を見落とす、というのはちょっともったいない。

だって、さっぱりとした敬意を向け合う日常ならば、目をあければどこにでも見つかるのだから。

富士山がどの作品にもシンボルとして出てきました。
富士山になじみの無い私が読むと、
富士山というものに興味がわいてきました。

内容としては
作品ごとに好みが別れるだろうなーと
思いました。
私もどうも納得のいかない話もありましたし
最後の話はなんだか読んでいて女性として苦しかったり
しましたが
そういう不快な感情を呼び起こすのもまた
小説の魅力なんだろうなあと思います。
