・理論を知っているだけではダメだが、理論を知らないのは話にならない
・本や公式に発表されているグローバルな情報と、実際に自分が会って話す中で得られるローカルな情報の２つが必要
・そういった情報を得られるようにするための人脈作りが重要
・情報の漏洩をいかに管理するかが、自分の行動で周りにインパクトを与えられるかの鍵

といった、現代の「情報戦」において欠かせない点を、自身の財務官としての経験から為替を通じて分かりやすく説明してあります。
『情報は無料ではない』
ということがよく分かる本だと思います。

本書はハードカバーの文庫本版。
要するに、経済学等の理論は、現実を認識するための整理学。しかしながら、市場の現実は整理学だけでは把握できない（理論はもちろん知っておかねばならないが）ほどバラエティに富んでいるので、市場やそこにある情報を上手に熱心に収集し、自分なりの枠組みで考えること（これがたぶん知的謙虚さだと思う。）がポイントだとわかりやすく説いてくれる。

私は経済学に門外漢です。でも少し経済を理解できるレベル（日経新聞を
理解できる程度）だとまず経済用語を覚えて、そして為替を理解すること
だと発見しました。
その点まだ経済ビギナーだった私にいろいろな経済の事を教えてくれました。
経済通の方よりもむしろ経済学をかじり始めた方のほうがより本書から
吸収できるものが多いはず。

内容としては為替の世界的実例を挙げて榊原氏がそれを解説する形式。
ここ１０年来のトピックスを中心に実例を挙げていますから、
興味津々に読み耽りました。収穫の多い充実した読書体験でした。
