昭和23(1948)年、高知県に生まれる。都立世田谷工業高等学校電子科卒業。旅行代理店、広告制作会社、コピーライター、航空会社関連の商社勤務などを経て、平成9(1997)年、「蒼龍」で第77回オール讀物新人賞を受賞。平成14(2002)年、「あかね空」で第126回直木賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

任侠の世界の話だが若い音次郎が成長していく姿が良く書けている。仁義の切り方さえ知らない音次郎が一人で親分の名代で祭りに招待されていく旅を書いてある。よその組にわらじを脱ぐのも始めての旅だがはらはらしながら痛快なことが良く起こって面白い読み応えのある本でした。音次郎活躍の続きがあると良いと思った

一気に読めます。おもしろいです。
音次郎は言葉遣いも丁寧で優男。
およそ博徒っぽくないが、内に熱いものを持っている。

そんな音次郎が"男"を見込まれ、今戸の貸元、恵比須の芳三郎の名代として成田、佐原へ旅をする。
ただ名代を務めるだけではなく、音次郎が"男"を磨くための旅でもある。

成長していく音次郎が格好良いし、とにかく読んでいて気持ちいいです。

とにかくオモシロイ!一気に読めちゃう作品です。わかりやすい文章で楽しみやすい。しかし、ジワジワと染みる、とてつもない奥深さがあります。
頼りない音次郎が、旅をすることで成長していく内容です。
旅の始めには、頼りない音次郎にハラハラさせられます。しかし、後半になると音次郎の「かっこよさ」に惚れて、最後には音次郎の母になったような気持ちになりました。
