第15回サントリーミステリー大賞優秀作品賞を受賞したデビュー作です。
人気のある作品なのにレビューが無いのは、何故でしょうか？
スペースシャトルの事故後に読んだので、思い入れもあった気がします。
特に私の場合、技術者なので一層興味深く読むことが出来たのかもしれません。
かなり詳細なロケットの知識が、得られます。（技術的にも歴史的にも）

またミステリーを面白くしているのは、脚本のうまさだと思います。
最初、読み始めた時にはロケットに関する記述が、少しヒツコイ感じがしました。
しかし、いつの間にか作品の面白さに引きずり込まれました。
読み終わった後、作者へ投稿したくなりました。
秋・冬・春・という様に、続編を読みたくなったのです！

ロケットとミサイルの意味について知りたくなった人は・・・
是非、この本を読んでください。お薦めします。。。

　かつて高校で小型ロケットを作ったほどの宇宙少年たちが社会人となった今、そんな本物のロケットを作っていく。その一途なまでの彼らの描写が巧みで、ロケットのことなんて何も知らない文系人間のボクものめり込んでしまった。発射実験は成功するか、しないかだけだが、ボクは手をとって成功を願ってしまった。
　「核弾頭を運べばミサイルに、人間を運べばロケットになる。」
そんな現実を抱えていてもロケットは飛んでいく。
　すごく美しい。

　出張中に同行者から「これ読み終わったから貸すよ。面白いぜ」ということで　手渡された。因みにその同行者は会社の上司でジーンズとジャズが好きな５０男である。

　小生だったら本屋ではまず買わない「題名」であるが　そんなこんなで機内で読んでいる内に　あっという間に引き込まれ　お陰で飛行時間が気にならなくて助かった。

　筋は他の方が紹介されている通りで　友達同士で犯罪スレスレでロケットを作ってしまうという話である。作者の科学的知識には感心するが　何よりこれは上質の青春小説である。例えば　同じテーマを高村薫が書いたら（書いても良さそうな感じだが）　もっと硬質で重苦しくて男臭い犯罪小説になったろうが　この著者の持ち味は　明るく軽い作風にあり　実に爽やかである。
何より　懲りない面々が　更にロケット作りを始めるというラストシーンが秀逸であり　ほがらかな気分になる。

　この作品をカラっと映画に出来ないものかな。
