オリーブオイルといえば、サラダにかけるドレッシングくらいしかどーしても思い浮かばな...、一体どんなものなんだろうか？？

なにか参考になる本が欲しくなり"オリーブオイル"をキーワードに探していました。いろいろある本の中でも、表紙の写真がとても印象的で一目で気に入り購入しました。
読みはじめるとのめりこんでしまい、あっという間にオリーブオイルを使った生活を自分も体験しているような心地になり、自分でも何か料理をしたくなってしまいました。

本のレシピを参考に作ってみると、どれも簡単でしかもすごく美味しいものばかり。
特に大統領インゲンのパスタは、最高！！

とにかく作者の視点がおもしろい。イタリアでは、どんな風にオリーブオイルと付き合っているのか。日本人としてついつい疑問に思ってしまうところや、逆に日本人の思い違いなどが、本当に生活しているからこそ分かる感性で書かれていて、どれも納得してしまいました。

この本を読み終えると、オリーブオイルのファンになってしまう、そんな一冊です。

ウンブリアの農村での生活をおくっている著者の処女作のようです。、ここで描かれているのは、オリーブ・オイルだけでなく、今も変わらないウンブリアの農村での生活です。そこでは、豚の解体、オリーブの実の収穫、アーティチョークの初物などが、すべて季節の移り変わりの中の儀式として、いまだ存在しているイタリアの農家の風景です。決して、日本のようにさまざまな食材に恵まれているわけではないイタリアの農村ですが、そこには、農村なりの伝統に培われた食生活の決まりが残っています。それは意外にも、野菜料理がかなりの比重を占めるものです。そして著者が、そのイタリアの農村料理の伝統を継承していこうとする姿は、不思議な光景ですね、

著者が暮らすウンブリアは、最近少しずつ注目されはじめているけれども、
トスカーナと比べるとまだまだ素朴なイタリアの田舎の良さがそのまま残っているエリア。

そんな田舎での、ご近所さんとのやりとりや、日常の暮らしから、ウンブリアの人々の
食や生活に対する考え方が、分かりやすく伝わってくる好著。

日常的に食べられている（=日本でも簡単に再現可能な）レシピのヒントが
巻末のレシピ集以外にも掲載されているのは、イタリア料理好きとしては、ポイント高し。
