夫婦双方が本気になって主張したら事態は進まない。昔なら頑固親父が踏ん張ったが、今は逆だ。
「こちらも相当言うんです。しかし妻は、まず『自分が正しい』という結論ありきで、私をそこに引き込もうとする。そして論破されても『嫌なものはいや』で、自分の考えを曲げない。そうするといつまでたっても平行線でしょう。そんなことが何回もあると、いくら議論しても、ああまたこのパターンかと読めます。するともう聞き役に回って『はいはい、そうですか』と言わないと収まりがつかない」
妻の思考パターンが理解できない。なぜもう少し冷静に、もう少し客観的に、もう少し言葉を抑えて会話することができないのか。
「もめごとがおきますね。私が主張して二人の対立となると、妻はどんどん昔のことを持ち出してくるのですよ。『あの時何もしてくれなかった』『あなたはやっぱり何もしてくれない人だ』と次から次ぎに昔のことを引っ張り出してきて畳みかける。まったく関係のない話題での意見の食い違いが、なぜそこまで飛躍するのか」
この攻撃パータンを「記憶の飛び火」と名づけた。
妻からの言葉：「男が黙ってしまうことはわかりました。でも女にしてみれば相手が黙ると『自分が正しかったのだ』と思うんですよ。女のそういうところを男は理解した方がいいのではないでしょうか」
