髪結いシリーズ第２弾の本作は、第１弾（『幻の声』）よりもっと急展開な内容となってます。

全体的に伊三次とお文の恋愛模様と伊三次と不破の信頼関係が中核をなしています。
捕物としての要素は『幻の声』より薄らいでいるようなきらいがあります。

とにかく伊三次とお文が別れまた寄り添って行く筋書きは読者の読書意欲を掻き立ててくれる事間違いなし。知らないうちにページを次々めくって行ってしまいます。

特に、「菜の花の戦ぐ岸辺」において殺しの疑いをかけられた伊三次をお文が助ける話は思わず目頭が熱くなります。話の内容としても全５編中傑出していると思いました。

舟での２人のやりとりはとっても印象的かつ感動的です。

あと、『幻の声』で伊三次から三十両を盗んだ弥八が、面白!いキャラながらも改心して人間的にも成長して行く姿はとっても微笑ましく、おみつとの幸せを願わずにいられません。
　

とにかく、この時代（江戸時代）において一生懸命生きている前向きな人々を情緒豊かに描写している本シリーズは、時代が違えど現代に生きる我々にとっても、あい通じるものがあり元気づけてくれる１冊であることには間違いありません。

個人的には伊三次が啖呵を切るシーンが大好きで待ち望んで読んでますよ（笑）

宇江佐さんの感情表現豊な文章、未読の方是非堪能してください。

気になる伊三と文吉の恋の行方。店を開くにはお金が足りなくて「所帯をもとう」と気安く言えない伊三の男の意地。「わっちがここで待つといったらお前は来てくれるかえ？」と問う文吉のいじらしさ。私から遠くない。二人の気持がわかりすぎて、私の心が痛くなるほど。

そして日々の暮らしのなかの、行き違い。「へ、しかも親身に尽くしている人にまで疑われてよ。やってられねェよ」人殺しの下手人と、信じたお人に疑われたやりばのない怒り。切なくて胸がつぶれる。

宇江佐氏はまるで魔法を操るように、ごく普通のことばと、ありそうな出来事を積み重ねて、愛、友情、嘘、裏切りを語る。江戸時代の岡引と深川芸者の世界に私達を引き込んでしまう。そして、というか、しかも、二人の世界を私達にぐっと引き付けるところが本当に驚き。

二人の世界に彩りをそえる季節の有様。それもまたこの作品の魅力の一つ。｢甘酒色の月」あり、祭りの飾り付けをした「出店のような華やかさ」の自身番あり。言葉すくなに、けれど丹念に描かれた季節と裏腹な人々のありようが時には残酷なほど美しい。

小粒の宝石のような作品。キラキラ光る言葉や、瞬間がいっぱいつまっている。わっちは、伊三と文吉の次なる一年を知ることが心底まちどうしいェ。

私が贅沢なだけなのか？
読んでいて強い違和感がある。捕り物というわりには、事件は大したことがないし。
世話物なんでしょうか？
伊三次って人の顔も見えてこない。なぜなんでしょう？
