この本のカバー裏に異色ホラーと説明書きされてますが、全然怖くない本なので夜に恐がり屋さんが読んでも大丈夫ですよ！

篠田節子さんの本は名前聞くのも見るのも初めてなのですが、かなり嵌って見てしまいました。夜寝る前に少しずつ本を読む私なのですが、次がとても気になってしまって、半日で半分読み切ってしまったくらい面白かったです。そして、ピアノや音楽をやってらっしゃる方にはとても共鳴出来る本ではないでしょうか。私は何となく主人公達の気持ちが分かるような気がしました。音楽やってましたから。文才力凄いです。他の本も読んでみたいなァと思ってます。楽譜の挿し絵とかあると、もっと良かったように思えます。

内容は･･･
大学時代に音楽で青春時代を過ごしたかつての恋人？香西の死、テープが送られてきてから廻りに色々な怪奇現象のようなことが怒り出し、それを不思議に思った元彼女？瑞穂が調べていくうちに･･･といった青春不思議ファンタジーといったところでしょうか。自分を見つめ直せそうな本です。

「ホラー」とはありますが、幻想的でファンタジーのような物語です。音楽への誘いみたいな所が、恐いという感じではなかったです。
主人公と自殺した恋人とその友人との間での不器用な恋愛ドラマが、主に展開されています。それが青春小説入っているだけに、ちょっと非現実的な描写が浮き立っていたような気がしました。

本書全体を支配するのはバッハの絶筆となった未完成の組曲「フーガの技法」だ。この曲は作曲技巧の境地を極めるものだが、演奏者により暖かく感じたり、突き放された様にも感じる不思議な側面を持つ。孤高の音楽家康臣が死に際してテープに残した演奏は後者なのだろう。天才的な素質を持つ彼のヴァイオリンは、名声を得る事をあえて嫌い、自らの死によって目的を達し様とした。

物語全体を包み込むのは幻想的雰囲気だ。そして場面は時間軸的に目まぐるしく前後する。さらに康臣の残したテープは表面的にも本質的にも時間軸を逆行する。その事により瑞穂と正寛に劇的な体験をもたらし、結果的には康臣の目的が達成された形となって物語は幕を閉じる。この幕切れが名残惜しい。もっと長く幻想に浸っていたい気分だ。

音楽、特にバッハなどの古典音楽好きの方には是非おすすめしたい。本書はフーガの技法の小説版解説書という見方も出来なくはない。
