宮崎事件と、酒鬼薔薇事件。私たちは何を知っていて、何を知らなかったのだろう？

宮崎事件の犯人を私はロリコンの異常性欲者だと思っていた。何故そう思ったか？
まだ未成年だった私に、宮崎の部屋のおびただしいエロ本やＡＶが強烈だったからだ。
もしかしたら、キャスターは違うことを言っていたかもしれない。でも映像しか記憶に残っていない。

時代は進み、インターネットで情報は更に垂れ流しになった。酒鬼薔薇はネットで顔写真と名前が閲覧できた。

簡単に手に入る情報。でもその裏側を誰も追求しない。ニュースでさえも。

知らなくていいこと、知らなければいけないこと。これは誰が判断してくれるのだろうか？

その答えは出ないけれど、本書の内容は、宮崎の部屋の映像や、酒鬼薔薇の写真より知るべき事だと感じた。

事件の「異常性」のみが記憶に残った連続幼女誘拐殺人事件。「異常」がゆえに、自分とは関係のない、「逸脱」した加害者が犯した犯行、として捕らえていた事件。われわれが「異常」の一言で片付けてしまう事件を、著者はなぜその「異常」な人間が生まれたのかを、加害者の内面の深くまで切り込み、考える。さらに、「内面」だけでなく、事件が起こる「外面」である社会的背景にも目を向けることを怠らない。「異常快楽殺人者」の人間としての「内面」を見せられ、自分とは関係のないこととして、距離を置く姿勢を問い直さなければならない、と思わせられた。著者の分析は見事であるし、読者を引き込ませる筆力もすごい。あえて言うなら、個人の解離性同一性障害（多重人格）と、日本人の戦争に対する罪の意識を解離させ、ひたすら突っ走っていった戦後との類似関係の指摘は、どうなんだろう、と思った。それは、著者らしからず、「悪」の日本が「正義」の諸国を苦しめたという紋切型の構図で、太平洋戦争を捕らえているからだ。戦争というのは、善悪二元論的な思考では捕らえることができない問題ではないだろうか。筆者にそれがわからないはずはない。

宮崎勤＝ロリコン、と誰もが思っていた当時。そしてそのように報道したマスコミ。

それが本書を読むことにより、疑問符が頭の中に湧き上がる。

センセーショナルな報道に、真実が見えにくくなってしまう。
それがマスコミの宿業ともいえそうだが、だからこそ本書のように冷静に分析した書籍も必要なのだ、と改めて感じました。
