これは殺人の物語です。実に、あっけなく人が死にます。
警官も出てきます。赤毛の美人刑事が事件を追います。
日本では、ミステリー小説に分類されているようです。犯人はすぐにわかりますが、それでも読まずにはいられません。
登場人物はほとんどいかれた人ばかりですが、かれらを狂わせているのは、重すぎる現実です。

現実と折り合えない人間がいるとしたら、人間よりもずっと、現実の方がおかしいことだってあるのです。苦笑しながら、作者は語っているようです。
ストレートなメッセージはありません。
だからこそ、自分の限界が試される小説です。

　チョコレートを食べ続ける警察官、イカレた主 人公に恋する女警官、息子を溺愛する母親、パラノイアの「ぼく」……。
登場人物全てが狂っている倒錯暗黒小説。オススメです。

正統派のサイコホラーだと思って読んでみたが、変に笑えるところが多い。トラウマを持ち息子がなにより大切、というサイコ犯には定番の母親は主人公を子供みたいに扱って、緊張感がない。空想上の世界に遊ぶ青年は異常なのだが、空想の宿泊客にコーラを注文されて、自宅の冷蔵庫から持ってくる主人公に読んでいて恐怖を覚えるわけもない。空想上では少年になっているので母親と口論する口調も子供だ。母親もいい年の息子を子供扱いしてるから、変にバランスが取れている。
中盤から登場する女刑事と仲の悪い上司のやりとりを読んで、この本は登場人物が全部ふざけていると判明。始めから馬鹿小説だと思って読んだほうが楽しめると思います。
