4.0 out of 5 stars 出版界の裏事情はやわかり, 2003/8/24
山本夏彦氏の慧眼と一流の辛辣な文章にによって、明治以降の日本の出版界の裏事情と言うべき内容が語られる貴重な書である。
岩波書店、講談社、ちくまといった出版社がどのように出来、今日にいたっているかは、言論の主が当事者であるだけに日常語られることは少ない。

著者は言わば、そうしたタブーとも言うべき分野に対して、全く遠慮会釈なく斬り込み、その姿をさらしてくれる。特に日本語が駄目になった主犯とも言うべき「岩波用語」の罪状をつまびらかに、わかりやすくさらしてくれる。

よくここまでとも驚く内容もあるが、それは筆者の日本語に対する愛情、文語文ややまと言葉への愛惜に裏打ちされたものであるため、不愉快になることがない。
出版のありかた、日本語を考える上で必読の書であると思う。

岩波講談社中公文春といった出版社のことならそれ相応の本が出てますが、それに加えて電通や製紙印刷製本取次まで語り尽くし、これ１冊で出版界全体のことがわかってしまうという恐るべき本。なんらかの出版にたずさわる人なら当然読んでおくべきですね。
