いろいろな小説、恋愛小説を読んできた。
これは名作ではないだろうか!?
久々の稀有な読書体験。
時を忘れて恍惚と読んだ。
再読に耐える現代文学の傑作。

　私はとんちんかんな男である。とんちんかんなことを書こう。
　私の印象に残ったのは以下の三点である。
　一点目は、主人公が魯迅の住居跡を二度訪れたことである。
　二点目は、丁寧に荷扱いをする若いドライバーが登場している点である。
　三点目は、忘了（ワンラ）という台詞である。
　ところで魯迅の随筆「藤野先生」によれば、魯迅は日本に留学していたおり、藤野先生という人物から、講義ノートの添削を受けていたことがわかる。その講義ノートの半分程度は、引越の際、引越業者の過失により散逸してしまったという。辻原氏はあるいは、魯迅の講義ノートが、そっくりそのまま残されていたならば！　という思いを、荷扱いの丁寧な青年に託したのではないか、などと考えてしまった。中国と日本。その友好的な結びつきの先駆は、魯迅と藤野先生との間に生まれた師弟愛だった。中国と日本。その対立は、日中戦争、日露戦争、もっと、あるのだろうが、不勉強の私は、少なくとも今の私は知らない。しかし、作中の「忘了（ワンラ）」、忘れてしまった、という言葉には、これまで日中間に起きた歴史的な確執を、お互いに忘れてしまおう、それはできない相談かもしれない、しかし、忘れてしまって、新たな関係を、友好的な関係を築くべきではないか、という辻原氏の祈りが、願いが込められてはいまいか。などと読むのは、やはり私がとんちんかんなせいである。私は、過去の自分をさえ、忘れることのできない、卑小な男である。まったく、柄にもないことを書いてしまった。これは、いけなかった。ああ、私もまた、「忘了」とただ一言、そう言える強さを持ちたいものだ。

残念ながら、私には合わない作品でした。
使われている単語が不自然に誇張されたものを使っていたり、言い回しもわざとらしさが少し鼻につくところが気になりました。
父親探しのメインテーマに李杏とのラブロマンスをからめていたのですが、なぜ二人が恋に落ちたのか、ストーリーの展開の中で腑に落ちず、ここをもう少し丁寧に段階を追って描写を積み上げていかないと読者がついていけないな、と思いつつ読みました。ジャスミン (文春文庫)
