着物の写真も美しく、またそれを着こなす宮尾さんのはにかんだ笑顔もキュートで素敵です。そして着物にまつわるいろいろな思いが、語りかけるように心に響いてくる、優しい文体も魅力的でした。
あえて趣味の悪い言い方をすれば「有名女流作家箪笥の中をそっとのぞく楽しみ」もある本と言えるかも…
着物初心者の私ですが、初心者のこの時期だからこそ、この本にめぐり合えて本当によかったと思っています。

小さなころから着物に慣れ親しんだ作者が、いったん戦争で失った着物。それから集めだした着物の紹介。一月ごとに作者の好きな着物のコーディネートがいくつか紹介してあるのだけれど、着物にまつわる話が面白い。昔の人がいかに着物を大事にしていたかと言う事が良く分かる本だった。色々な記念の折に作った着物は大切にされてとても綺麗だった。

たいした着物は手元に持っていないと作者の方はおっしゃっていたけれど、今はないような図柄の着物などが紹介されていて、コーディネートや昔の柄を見るだけでも楽しくなるような本です。

とても美しい宮尾さんの着物のコレクションを、写真で見ることができ、そのコレクションの素晴らしさに息をのみますね。宮尾さんの作品を映画化したものは、大抵、明治や大正の頃のものが多いので、きものがとっても美しいのです。着物の美しい映画でも、｢鬼流院花子の生涯」や｢蔵」などあります。
女流作家の方々は、やはり、様々な賞の晴れやかな席に出席することもあるでしょうし、着物を多く着る機会が多くあるのでしょう。また、着物がみなさんよくお似合いですよね。宇野千代さんを筆頭に、幸田文さん、宮尾登美子さん、中野翠さん、林真理子さん、染色家であり、作家でもある志村ふくみさん、白州まさ子さんなどなど、こうしてみると、そうそうたるメンバーですね。着物を着た女流作家の方々は堂々として、立派です。文学と着物もなぜか、とてもピッタリくるものなのですね。

宮尾さんは土佐の大姉御ともいえそうな、文章を読んでいても大変迫力のある一本気な方なのですが、その宮尾さんのまるで少女のような美しいものへの感覚がとても好感がもてます。日本映画を観ようとしたときに、まず、泉鏡花と、宮尾登美子さんの映画を選びます。本当に着物がふんだんに出てきて、またその着物が素敵で面白いのですよ。
