石田 衣良
1960年、東京生まれ。成蹊大学経済学部卒業。広告制作会社を経てフリーランスのコピーライターに。97年9月、「池袋ウエストゲートパーク」で第36回オール讀物推理小説新人賞を受賞。生き生きとした語り口と現在を映しだすエッジの鋭さが高い評価を受けた。受賞作に続篇3篇を加えた『池袋ウエストゲートパーク』(文藝春秋)でデビュー。2003年7月、『4TEEN』(新潮社)で第129回直木賞を受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

私個人としては好きだった
『池袋ウェストゲートパーク』や『波のうえの魔術師』は、
実際に池袋でたむろってる若者や
デイトレイダーには違和感があったはずです。

同じように、この作品も
現役のオタクやハッカーには
物足りなかったり、違和感があります。
（後半に行くにしたがい、その違和感は顕著になります）

オタクでプログラマな私としては、
やはり辛目の点数になってしまうのは
仕方ないでしょう。

ただし、主人公たちが最後の行動を起こすまでは
石田衣良さんらしい熱さはありました。

私と似た人々はこういった事を念頭においた上で
この本を手に取ることをオススメします。

ちなみに、本作品の内容に直接の関係はありませんが、
『池袋ウエストゲートパークIV』の表題作“電子の星”で
＜ちょっと気のきいたネットワーク小説＞
として登場しています。

気になったらそちらも読んでみて下さい。
（というか個人的には電子の星のほうがオススメです）

最初に言っておくが俺は氏のファンです。　
これも出た時にハードカバーに高い金払って買いました。
最初のIWGPや波の上の魔術師なんかは今でもたまに読み返すが、ここ最近の作品は本当に酷い事になってると思う。
ちょっと週刊誌読んでりゃ誰でも知ってる内容に非現実的な結末。　これの繰り返しです。　
この本もしかり　　特に後半のあまりのご都合主義は酷すぎる　せいぜい少年向けというか子供向けというか

期待して本を手に取った読者を裏切って欲しくないです。

本書は、TV放送された同タイトル作品のように、アキハバラ＠DEEPのメンバーが秋葉原のトラブルを解決するという一話完結の内容ではない。
ページ数は多いが前半は引き込むように読みすすめられる。
しかし後半の戦闘描写が、読み手によっては幼稚に思えるのでは･･･。
登場人物の動きや仕草を説明する描写が少々うるさく感じた。
